The New Age School, Pune has been established by KES with a strong motivation to experiment and establish certain educational visions. There are two things associated with this initiative which need elaboration. Why did KES decide to start an English medium school and that too in the Pune Metropolitan Region? The KES is aware of the proven fact that children learn best in their mother language and Pune has no dearth of schools. However, Pune is a place where establishing any new trend in education would undergo a critical examination by society and scholars.

All of us are aware that semi-English medium has been a preferred choice of students and parents when they have some plan to pursue higher studies, especially in science and technology. But this serves a little purpose because adapting to a new language of instruction from the fifth or eighth standard is too late to be comfortable to think and express in that language unless the student has strong language aptitude. On the other hand, a child can learn three languages at a time comfortably including its mother tongue and this helps him in mastering each of them. 

Thus, English medium schools are not hazardous if the educator has a proper strategy of language education; in fact, it would counter the possible phobia of communication.  The only other concern is do such schools create youngsters who are cut off from their roots. This can be very well taken care of. In fact, the comfort of the English language would make students more capable of representing their history and culture globally…

Thus, at The New Age School, we have coupled the benefits of English medium school with experiential learning and making children more aware of their surroundings. I believe this would nurture better Indian citizens who can take up the challenges of their times!
